About the Position:

The Doctor of Physical Therapy program at Simmons University was founded in 1947 and has a long history of providing quality professional education to leaders and highly regarded practitioners. The faculty of the DPT program are experienced educators and respected clinicians and scholars who are dedicated to creating a learning community that values active learning opportunities, research and evidence based clinical coursework, small group case-based learning activities, and meaningful clinical experiences enhanced by faculty mentorship. High student performance on the National Physical Therapy Examination, student employment upon graduation, and employer and patient satisfaction with Simmons Physical Therapy alumnae/i are indicators of the strength of the curriculum, faculty effectiveness, and student dedication. The program has excellent technological support and has recently moved into a new space featuring state of the art teaching and research lab spaces.

Housed within the College of Natural, Behavioral, and Health Sciences (CNBHS) the Doctor of Physical Therapy program is searching for an Assistant/Associate Professor to join our current faculty who are dedicated to maintaining and advancing the Simmons University Doctor of Physical Therapy program's strong national stature, ranking, and impact in the 21st century.

Job Summary

The Physical Therapy Department at Simmons University is seeking applicants for a full time, 12-month tenure track faculty position. As a mission-driven institution, we invite applications from candidates who share our passion and commitment to empowering students and future professionals to thrive in their careers.

Primary Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include teaching, scholarship, and service. The candidate will have the opportunity to teach and collaborate in courses in their area of expertise. The candidate is expected to develop an active scholarly agenda. The candidate is expected to advise and mentor graduate students, participate in curriculum development, and actively engage in service to the Simmons community.

Qualifications

The candidate for this 12-month tenure-track position should have the following qualifications:
  • An earned PhD (ABD will be considered) or other academic terminal degree (EdD, ScD)
  • Ongoing scholarly activity that includes research and publications
  • Eligible for physical therapy licensure in Massachusetts
  • A minimum of 3 years college teaching experience in an area of clinical or research expertise, with preference given to teaching expertise in one or more of the following content areas: pediatrics, integumentary, orthotics/prosthetics, clinical medicine, and neuromuscular.
