The Department of Family Medicine and Community Health at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Associate or Full Professor position in the non-tenure academic clinician track. Applicants must have an M.D. degree. Applicants may also have a D.O. degree. Candidates with additional credentials such as a Masters or PhD are welcome.
Teaching responsibilities may include overseeing sports medicine education for students, residents, and fellows in collaboration with existing residency and medical school educators. Promoting scholarly activity related to all areas of primary care sports medicine is an expectation.
Clinical responsibilities may include overseeing all clinical and community engagement/philanthropic work to ensure fiscal responsibility and support faculty career goals. Providing direct patient care and serving as a team physician as determined by strategic opportunities are likely to be included as key responsibilities.
The Department of Family Medicine and Community Health (DFMCH), in collaboration with the Department of Orthopedic Surgery, seeks an energetic and visionary leader to serve as the Chief of Penn's Division of Primary Care Sports Medicine. In this newly formatted role, the Chief will capitalize on Penn Medicine's existing and growing footprint of sports medicine work and help catalyze growth and excellence in the practice of sports medicine.
This visionary leader will have a regional or national reputation for innovation and scholarship in the field of Sports Medicine and substantial prior administrative leadership experience. The mission statement of the DFMCH strives to transform the health of our communities and patients. Candidates with prior clinical or research work in this mission area are highly encouraged to apply.
The Chief of the Division of Primary Care Sports Medicine in the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health will work closely with the Departments of Orthopaedic Surgery and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation to develop and execute a comprehensive plan to promote strategic growth of all aspects of Sports Medicine at Penn Medicine and the Perelman School of Medicine. Appropriate candidates will also be considered for a dual primary appointment in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, with dual accountability and reporting to the Chairs of both departments. The Chief will be expected to create cohesion and engagement with all faculty in the Division of Primary Care Sports Medicine, including attention to career growth, mentorship, and retention for faculty, as well as close collaborative planning and execution with colleagues in the Sports Medicine Division within the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. This individual will work collaboratively with multiple departments and divisions to ensure strategic growth in Penn's relationship with sports teams at every level, including high schools, colleges, and at the professional level. Specific responsibilities will include convening and supporting members of the Division of Primary Care Sports Medicine, conducting annual reviews with faculty members, and supporting efforts toward career growth and promotion, as well as serving in an advisory role to key Department Chairs.
